Clear aligners are a type of removable orthodontic appliances. The most recognized brand of clear aligners is Invisalign®.

The system consists of removable clear aligners and fixed attachments on the teeth. The fixed attachments are tooth-coloured resin placed on specific teeth to facilitate desired tooth movements.

A soft-ware called ClinCheck® is used to check the simulated tooth movement during treatment. The simulation is done according to the doctor’s specific instructions on the type and amount of movement for each tooth. Once treatment starts, regular orthodontic visits are required to monitor treatment progress. This system usually requires additional aligners, as individual response to orthodontic treatment varies greatly.
