Do you need x-ray for braces?

Orthodontic x-rays are taken in order to deliver high quality and safe orthodontic treatment. They assist in diagnosis and treatment plan. As your teeth move with orthodontic wires during treatment, the roots of the teeth also move. X-rays give an opportunity to assess the overall health of bone tissue before starting to move your teeth around. Other than assessing the jaw bones, x-rays are useful to identify any abnormalities of the developing teeth and roots and diagnose any deviations in the eruption pathways of incoming adult teeth. If you have a complicated case such as impacted canines, you may require more x-rays to identify the best treatment option for you.
